Woody, spicy and refreshing multipurpose oil
Juniper oil has astringent, stimulative, tonic and antiseptic properties. As such, I use it many different ways.
Hair tonic/massage oil: Juniper oil + Basil oil + Cedarwood (as I have them at the moment and they mix well together). I place them in an upcycled dropper bottle (I save one that I empty for DIYs such as this one), and then add 3 drops along each part massaging it in…doing this to cover the scalp. Then I sleep with it overnight and shower/wash in the morning. Great for clarifying, toning, hair growth stimulating.
Other way I use it: couple of drops in my cleansing oil when I see that time of the month coming to prevent breakouts.
Oil burner: I use it solo, or blend with cedarwood, or basil or lemongrass
Spray bottle: home distilled water (purified water) and several drops of this oil. Shake and spray on the surfaces to be cleaned/refreshed (yes, on myself too hehe…see below)
Deodorant- Upcycled glass roll-on: juniper EO, citronella, eucalyptus in jojoba base.
For therapeutic purposes such as massage oil blends, I prefer to use organic juniper berry essential oil for its purifying benefits. If I want to use juniper berry essential oil for household cleaning recipes (it is a natural antiseptic), or for vaporising or diffusing, then I use juniper berry that is not organic.
Oil Garden describes their juniper berry as having a sweet, fresh aroma with a woody undertone. My bottle of Oil Garden juniper berry had a woody scent, but there was no hint of sweetness in it. When I diffused the juniper berry in my ultrasonic diffuser, I could not smell anything, even though I was sitting next to it. I ended up using most of the juniper berry for household cleaning.
